Authentic gastronomy and a land of abundance

The table of Agome Kusuntu reflects our generosity and the know-how of our mothers. Come savour our culinary art:

• Our emblematic dishes — The essential « Akplé » made from maize, sorghum or cassava, and our delicious pounded « Foufou » from yam or cassava.

• Our local flavours — Our dishes are elevated by wild products of our land, such as highly prized edible field mushrooms and fresh crabs from our waterways.

• Rich food and fruit farming — Alongside coffee, cocoa and oil palm, we grow sweet banana, plantain, cassava, yam, sweet potato and taro. Our orchards brim with sun-ripened fruit: oranges, grapefruits, lemons, mandarins, avocados and pineapples.

• Our local drinks — Accompany your meals with our traditional fresh palm wine or the famous « Sodabi », our much-appreciated artisanal local gin.

• Ecotourism — Be amazed by our mountains and waterfall, and enjoy swimming in the cool waters of our LOMÉ river. Warm hotels await to extend your stay.

• Oral heritage and games — Let our wisdom be told through proverbs, tales and riddles. Share moments of conviviality with the « APÉ » game for women and girls, or the « ADITO » and « ATIKAKA » games for men and boys.

• Cultural and festive life — Feel the rhythm of « DUMENYO », our great annual traditional, cultic and cultural festival. Discover our songs and dances « AVIHA » sung by women, « AGBLEHA » carried by men, and the « AKPESE » dance for popular rejoicing.

• Art and outreach — Admire the talent of young musicians from the « Youth Harmony Music School » and experience the festivals of the NGO « WEVA AFRICA » (based in the USA). Finally, visit our craft centre to appreciate our sculpture, pottery and kaolin processing.
